# Restricted jurisdictions

> Bright Data restricts accounts, traffic, and service use linked to sanctioned jurisdictions. Learn which countries are affected and how to appeal a suspension.

Bright Data services can't be used in connection with certain countries and regions, called Restricted Jurisdictions. This applies to any account, traffic, or transaction that comes from, goes to, or passes through one of these locations.

## Restricted jurisdictions

Bright Data does not process, support, or permit service activity associated with the following jurisdictions:

* Iran
* Iraq
* Lebanon
* Syria
* The Palestinian Territories
* North Korea
* Cuba
* Sudan
* Belarus
* Russia
* Crimea region of Ukraine, Luhansk People's Republic, Donetsk People's Republic

This action is taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and internal compliance requirements.

## How restrictions are enforced

### Technical blocks

Bright Data applies technical blocks across the platform. These are hard blocks: they cannot be overridden by customers or by Bright Data support, and they apply regardless of any compliance documentation you provide.

| Area | What is blocked |
| - | - |
| Network traffic | Requests sent from IP addresses located in a Restricted Jurisdiction |
| Sign up | Creating a new account from or associated with a Restricted Jurisdiction |
| Login | Accessing an existing account from a Restricted Jurisdiction |
| Company details | Registering a company located in a Restricted Jurisdiction |
| Billing information | Adding billing details or payment methods associated with a Restricted Jurisdiction |

<Warning>
  Technical blocks are permanent and cannot be appealed. If you are blocked by one of these checks, you cannot use Bright Data services from or in connection with that jurisdiction.
</Warning>

### Account suspension

In addition to technical blocks, Bright Data may identify an account that appears to be associated with a Restricted Jurisdiction and disable it. Unlike technical blocks, account suspensions can be appealed.

## Appeal an account suspension

If you believe your account was suspended in error, reply to the suspension email or open a ticket with [support@brightdata.com](mailto:support@brightdata.com). Attach your company's certificate of incorporation (COI), and we'll review it accordingly.

<Note>
  Only account suspensions can be appealed. Technical blocks cannot.
