What changed

On November 13, 2025, LinkedIn changed how they handle public profile data. Three fields are affected:
  • Position
  • Experience
  • Education
Fill rates for these fields dropped from 50-64% to roughly 2%. This is an industry-wide issue affecting all data providers collecting legal, public data, not just Bright Data. LinkedIn doesn’t publish public changelogs for data access restrictions. We identified this change through our monitoring on Nov 13 when fill rates dropped across the board.

Why these fields can’t be collected

LinkedIn restricted public access to Position, Experience, and Education. These fields are now behind a login wall. Bright Data only scrapes publicly available data. Using authenticated access creates legal exposure for both Bright Data and the customer. How to verify: Open any LinkedIn profile in an incognito/private browser window without logging in. You’ll see that Position, Experience, and Education details are masked behind the login wall. If position data is visible, the format may be different than the actual current position (truncated, incomplete, or showing company name instead of title).

Why customers see data on LinkedIn but we can’t scrape it

The customer is logged in. We access public data only. LinkedIn restricted what’s publicly available for these three fields. Other providers collecting legal, public data face the same restriction.

Why record counts or snapshot sizes dropped

Without fresh Position, Experience, and Education fields, many records don’t meet quality thresholds. We deliver records we can populate with meaningful data rather than mostly-empty records.

Why data freshness is affected

Refresh cycles for these three fields are impacted. We continue to provide them as sticky data from cache. Once fill rates improve, freshness follows. All other fields continue to refresh at scale.
