Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
  • Claude Code is installed and configured
  • A Bright Data account (new users get free credit for testing, and then you can pay as you go)
  • A Bright Data Admin API key from the user settings page. The key must have Admin permissions to connect to the hosted Bright Data MCP server. New users receive an API key in the welcome email.

Troubleshooting

Why does claude mcp list show “Failed to connect”?

If claude mcp list fails to connect, confirm that the API key has Admin permissions. Generate a new Admin API key on the user settings page if needed, then remove and re-add the Bright Data MCP server configuration:
Run claude mcp list again to confirm that the brightdata server shows ✓ Connected.
